The Avalon Institute

As institutional decay and atomization degrade the infrastructure meant to enable the next generation of thought and art, new contexts must be created where they can find the fellowships they need to build a future. Avalon's purpose is to provide them.

Avalon House is a community and home which provides surface area for experimentation in the arts and intellectual life. We provide a space and audience interested in new styles of engagement, education, and collaboration. Since 2024 we have hosted plays, poetry competitions, seminars, symposia, classes, music nights and much more.

The Avalon Institute provides the infrastructure necessary to develop these experiments into enduring forms. Our aim is to master the social, financial, logistical and physical grounds of thought—the conditions in which practitioners, mentors, students and audiences find each other and begin to work together.

We are building a new home for cultural ambition, a sanctuary from the political, financial, and bureaucratic pressures which distort ideal practice and exhaust passion. We believe that those who love the traditions of inquiry and creation must organize to defend the grounds on which their work depends. In so doing, we will renew the ideal of the university.
